It looks likely that one of our most treasured trips is no longer an option beginning in 2024. Many of you have reached out and asked… where have the SCI trips gone? Why can\’t I book SCI? I watched Rob on YouTube and want to do the SCI trip… the comments go on and on.

First off, we love that you love this trip so much. At the peak a couple of years back, we scheduled eight (8) trips with a couple of 3.5 days in the mix as well. I even married a kayak fishing couple on the water… incredible memory!

I am not at liberty to say why exactly these trips may no longer exist on the calendar… however I can say that nothing bad happened, no bad blood or anything negative like that. We have nothing but love for the Islander and their crew. When the time comes, it will all make sense.

I damn near begged John for one more trip this year because we never really got to say good-bye to this trip. Well, that is where the good news comes in… We have one more 2.5 day kayak mothership trip scheduled for 2023.

This trip will run in early November when the waters are still warm, the summer crowds are gone and the island should be stacked with fish. With a new time slot on the calendar, ideal kayak fishing conditions and the Islander catching up their pricing to full fare/peak season with adjustments for the current economy… the price of this trip has increased by over 20%.

Before anyone starts throwing daggers our way… we do not make-up these prices. We take a contract out with the boat to fill it up. This is not nor will ever be a money maker for us, we add a small percentage to cover credit/debit card processing fees, nothing more.

We want to gauge the interest of our audience to see if we can fill up multiple dates or just a single trip. We want to give this trip a proper send off and give people the chance to do something unique in the southern California area before it goes away.

03.22.23 New Zealand Kayak Mothership Trip Seminars at Bart Hall

Next week we will be supporting Hobie and Pure Watersports by hosting daily seminars on the topic of New Zealand kayak mothership trips. The first seminar will begin on Thursday 3/30 @ 2 PM PST. Please see the schedule below for all seminar times.

I will explain how this trip works with insights into the overall trip itinerary, the safety measures in place and of course details about the fishery. We will also talk about the partnership with BerleyPro and how they have built arguably the best kayak mothership trip program out there. 03.22.23 Openings on Apr/May New Zealand trips

The BerleyPro team is heading back to New Zealand in April and May for the last few trips of the 2023 season. There are a few openings on these trips that are sure to get filled by a few lucky anglers that want to get a taste of what New Zealand offshore kayak mothership fishing is all about.

Marty, Stephen and Captain Aaron have built a bullet-proof program that will surely satisfy any kayak angler that is keen on getting whooped by some aggressive \’kingies\’ and \’snappah\’. This trip is an adventure… everything from the sheer beauty of New Zealand, the incredibly clear waters, the abundant fishery and the full fishing program that includes local guides and quality Hobie kayaks rigged for success.

You need to bring your rods, reels, PFD, VH1 handheld radio and some tackle… everything else from kayak to localized Catch fishing tackle that will surely get bit will be provided by the team.

03.05.23 Our last New Zealand trip of 2023 is almost here

Our first New Zealand trip of 2023 has come and gone. The incredible group of anglers had an experience of a lifetime with regards to fishing and weather. Mother nature was angry and almost ruined the party… BUT she didn\’t have the last laugh. The team brushed off the bad weather and threw down with the yellowtail kingfish and snapper and pulled off the unlikely after what seemed to be a doomed trip.

We have a couple of spots open on our last New Zealand trip of 2023 season. This means that a couple lucky people can snag the last opportunity to fish with the one and only Marty Gittens and Stephen Tapp in one of the most beautiful places that I have had the pleasure of visiting.

This is also our last trip at the $3,999 price point. We learned a few things this season that we have to address to ensure the viability of these trips. We are investigating adding trip insurance into the cost of the trip to ensure that all parties are protected in the event of un-fishable weather.

In the coming days and weeks we will be releasing the 2024 New Zealand trip schedule with multiple dates from Feb – May \’24. This is the best time to snag your trip of a lifetime before others do. We have multiple parties circling these dates already which means we are expecting to sell out quickly.

01.05.23 NEW TRIP ALERT April 2023 New Zealand trip added

The first trip sold out in a matter of few days so we have added another 9 day New Zealand kayak mothership trip to the calendar.

April 8 – April 16

This will be the last trip at the $3,999 price point. As everything continues to go up in cost, we have to adjust to make up the difference.

Six spots… that is it. Grab them while you can! These trips are small enough that you can take a small group of your friends and make this trip your own. If this sounds interesting, follow the trip page link for booking details.

We had a cancellation on our first group to New Zealand. This means we have one (1) spot open on our first trip back to New Zealand since the pandemic started. The rest of the group is already locked in and fired up to go.

New Zealand is significantly easing up on their COVID restrictions for US based travelers. As of now, there is no proof of COVID vaccination required. This has of course changed since we announced this trip last month. Things are moving fast around the world and governments are moving away from COVID vaccination requirements.

We have been talking about this day for years… we even false started back in March 2020 right when the pandemic kicked off it\’s world tour. Well, the day is now.
